The world of essential oils can be a confusing one, but follow these fundamental rules and you should be alright:
Use together with a carrier oil
These are oils used to dilute essential oils and make it less corrosive. Popular carrier oil choices are jojoba oil and coconut oil.
Do a patch test
Applying freshly mixed oil to the back of your hand or a small patch of skin first before larger parts of your body will be a good allergy and sensitivity test.
Do not drink or rinse with essential oils
Be wary of DIY essential oil toothpaste or mouthwash, as essential oils may be toxic or irritating to our skin at high concentrations.
Buy “pure” essential oils
There are all kinds of knock-off versions and perfume oils that don’t contain the same benefits.
